Just wondering if the guys are still in Opio that used to deal with TVR in France ? Any contact details much appreciated.
Looking for help with inporting my Chimaera 500 from Dubai to Nice . Reading all the information on here , it looks like the paperwork isn't impossible , just the usual fun involved .

romain rousseau, the guy from opio, seems out of the business...

check English Car Mecanics from opio as well maybe

you can also check the Classic Routes, next to toulousen who is used to import TVR.

you should give a try to french administraion in charge (kidd of vehicule registry) called DREAL (formely DRIRE) and ask them if they are able to find your chim VIN in their database. It worked for a 2000 chim 450.

In this case, you pay 85€ to get a COC ... piece of cake !

If not, you have to go through the usual long, paintful and uncertain RTI process (UTAC and all the tests).

good luck.

Great , thanks for all the information .
Romain was the guy I spoke to a few years ago about a LHD Cerbera he had for sale .
I'll get in touch with some of the others you suggested for any more inspiration .
I doubt there is any record of the car in France , it was one of the Malaysian factory cars , imported directly to Dubai .

What year is your car? Do you have a e11* number just below your VIN on the constructor plaque?
If yes, then it is a piece of cake. If not, all hopes shall not be abandonned yet: give a call to the DREAL to verify that they can identify your car with only the VIN. If they can't, try another one. There are plenty of discussions here about the most colaborative DREAL.
Welcome in France.

Thanks for all the help , much appreciated . I'll have a look to see what numbers are on the car when I get back to Dubai . It's a 1999 model .

There are lots of E11 numbers on a plate in the engine bay , 11 of them to be exact .
Example ; E11 10R-011017-400 Chimaera
10R-011018-430 Chimaera
11R-020241
13R-053050 etc
Also there are some other numbers ; similar to the E11 ones but starting E4 and E2 ?

It also has a British Type Approval Number if that helps ?

Any insight would be great .

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all .

Hi,
these E11 E4 numbers can't help for the dreal identification, perhaps for some test, or lights, glass, seat belts homologation?
Here the E11 on a 98 chim

If you haven't a similar n° on your 500, you could ask to your local dreal if they can identify your chassis and engine numbers with their data base.If not possible, try another dreal.
I have recently imported a 96 400 chim, and my dreal told me they have another model they can identify, but which?
perhaps a pre- serpentine 400, or 450 or 500???
Do you speak French a little?
Good luck and Happy new year!
Chris

Chris , Thanks for the information . Sorry to say my car hasn't got that number on it . I spoke to a couple of dealers in France that reckon it shouldn't be a problem but I 'll make a few calls myself just to make sure !
Hopefully my French is up to the task .
All the Best , Andy.

Chris ,
No , not my one but another of the Dubai cars .
There are probably about 5 or 6 out here , mostly Chimaeras but I know of one Griffith and one Tuscan too.
Still working on getting mine into Europe . Sounds like France might be too hard without the appropriate numbers and the fact that the car is coming from outside EU . Looking at other alternatives.
Cheers .
Andy.

I have just got my 98 Chimaera 450 re-registered and that didn't have an E11 number either. I have found that you need to find a DREAL that has already had the same car through their computer. It doesn't matter which DREAL you go to, and it saves you driving to Bordeax and paying €2000 for them to do the full inspection which I was faced with. You also have to be prepared to insist they check.
Hope this is of some help.

Do you live in Dubai, I soon moved there, if I want to buy a car in Dubai, which I need to go through relevant procedures?
