Importing Chimaera

Message par popey1 »

Hi all.

I'm new here and am very interested in importing a Chimaera from Uk.

Reading all the posts it seems that a 1998 400 with 'E11.....' on the Vin plate should be no problem to bring in?

This is a car that I am looking to buy in UK so I really want to know if it is possible before I commit to buying.

By extension, does the 'E11.........' mean that any car with this prefix is importable?

Reading the posts in English and French is quite confusing as some say you have to have noise and pollution tests whereas others say that a certificate can be produced by DREAL for a small fee if the car is on their database.

Does anyone know the definitive step by step way to register my car?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

First of all, sorry for my english that is not perfect

Unfortunately, there is no definitive “step by step way” to register a TVR in France. Why ? Of course because you are in France :D . Seriously the main problem is the DREAL with which you will do all the approval procedure. With some it is enough to apply for a certificate of identification and with others it will be necessary to do a RTI with all the tests at UTAC.

For the Chimarea, the less risky way of importing one is to choose one with the E11 on the VIN plate. It means that normally a Chimaera with E11, you only have to apply for a certificate, but it not 100% sure.

The best way to do, before buying the TVR, is to call the DREAL with all the information (European reception number “E11”, VIN, Number of the engine, Date of the first registration,…) and ask them if it is possible to register the car in France with a certificate of identification, by checking if the car is on their database. If they say “Yes”, you can go to buy the Chimaera, if they say “No”, try another DREAL.

An interesting topic to read about the registration of a Chimaera 400 with a E11 : viewtopic.php?f=11&t=1903

Salut Enzo,

Merci pour votre réponse. Votre anglais est vachement meilleur que mon français!

J'ai lu le lien et je suis heureux de constater que c'est peut-être possible d'importer la voiture!

:D
